Massiel returns to the charge against Irene Montero: “I am a feminist from before, she has not invented it”

This Tuesday a new installment of Blood tieswhich this time had the absolute protagonist massiel (75). In the program they recalled the feminist facet of the artist and she took advantage of the occasion to show her opinion on the current Minister of Equality, Irene Montero. It is not the first time that he has publicly criticized her.

The program of the public entity, presented Jordi Gonzalez in this new season, he recalled its importance on a cultural and also social level. Massiel claimed the divorce when it was not yet legal in Spain. It must be remembered that she separated from the plastic surgeon Luis Recatero in 1970. Shortly after her, the love of Carlos Zayas came into her life, with whom she had her only son, Aitor.

As she recalled, she gave birth in London to be the son of an unknown mother and of Zayas. All so that the baby, who was born on June 1, 1977, could not be legally claimed by Recatero, from whom he still did not have ecclesiastical nullity. Barely twelve days later, Massiel returned to be able to vote (for the first time) in the general elections of June 15, 1977, the first after Franco’s death.

The interpreter, in her day, also starred in loud public statements against the lack of equality and anti-fascism. She was also publicly in favor of the pill and birth control, among other issues related to sexual freedom.

His criticism of Irene Montero

Regarding current feminism, the artist said: “Well, of course, I see that it has nothing to do with the feminism of Podemos. I am a feminist from before, from Carmen Sierra and from some writers like Lidia Falcón.”

She also explained that she has never had the intention of being a champion of feminism: “It’s not that I have put the world on my montera, I have tried to live in freedom in a time when there was no freedom. And even so we fought to achieve it, and we all achieved it. ”

In this sense, he went back to the present to criticize the minister of Podemos: “This has not been invented by Irene Montero. They already existed before. Another thing is opportunism and wanting to get votes by taking what suits you by your side, when it was already invented, protected and assumed long ago. “

As we said, it is not the first time that the Eurovision winner criticizes the wife of Pablo Iglesias. “I have always been an empowered woman, not like that minister married to a musty-smelling communist,” she said in October 2021 after collecting the Lifetime Award dedicated to music granted by the Association of Artists, Performers or Performers (IAE). In September 2020, she also said in the Deluxe: “Every time he opens his mouth I get very angry”
