Martínez-Almeida receives the Madrid women’s U-17 soccer team for their national title

The Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, received this Tuesday afternoon at the Palacio de Cibeles the members of the Madrid U-17 women’s soccer team, winner of the Spanish Championship of Regional Teams, and congratulated them for carry “the name” of the city “throughout Spain”.

“The example that you are giving to the youth is very important and that you do it with the dedication and sacrifice that you have had to carry out to achieve this achievement,” the councilor stressed in statements provided by the City Council.

Martínez-Almeida recalled that “the essence of sport is to never stop fighting and believing in the possibilities of each one and, above all, knowing how to pass it on”. “And this year that Madrid is the World Capital of Sport, we are even more grateful and very proud of this feat that you have achieved,” he said.


Since April 8, 2020, the final of the Spanish Championship of Regional Teams had not been played due to the coronavirus pandemic and it was the Madrid U-17 team that revalidated its title on June 8 after winning 4-1 in the extension to the Valencian Community.
