Martín de la Puente wins his eighth MAPFRE Spanish Chair Tennis Championship

Martín de la Puente from Vigo, No. 3 in the world wheelchair tennis ranking, achieved his eighth MAPFRE Spanish Championship title this Saturday at the Real Club Pineda in Seville, thanks to his 7-6(9) victory. , (6)6-7 and 6-3 against Daniel Caverzaschi from Madrid in a final that lasted two hours and 29 minutes.

In this 34th edition of the contest, at 25 years old, De la Puente added the eighth win to his record, after those won in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023. In addition, this course has already won in Munich (Germany ), Royan (France), Geneva (Switzerland) and Sardinia (Italy); During the summer he even became the first Spaniard to reach the individual final of a ‘Grand Slam’, specifically Wimbledon.

He also extended his hegemony in the ONAT Foundation Open National Master, winning it for the sixth time in a row. In doubles, De la Puente recently won his second NEC Wheelchair Singles Masters in Arnhem (Netherlands) alongside Belgian Joachim Gerard.
