Martín de la Puente remains at the gates of the final at Wimbledon

The Spaniard falls in the semifinals of the wheelchair category against the British Alfie Hewett (6-3, 6-2)

MADRID, 15 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Martín de la Puente has said goodbye to the Wimbledon tournament, the third ‘Grand Slam’ of the season, after falling this Saturday in the semifinals of the wheelchair category against the British Alfie Hewett (6-3, 6- 2).

The Galician dominated 3-1 in a first set in which he was able to materialize the two ‘break’ balls available to him. However, the local tennis player came back to take the sleeve.

Three breaks, for only one of the Spanish, earned Hewett to also win the second set and close the contest after one hour and 29 minutes of play, ending De la Puente’s first participation in the ‘big’ London.

The man from Vigo thus confirms his great year on the circuit, with semifinals at Wimbledon and Roland Garros and quarterfinals in Australia, in addition to playing the doubles final at the ‘big’ Parisian venue and the ‘semis’ in the same modality in Melbourne.
