Martín de la Puente and Arturo Montes, doubles champions at the Spanish Chair Tennis Championships

MADRID, 15 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Vigo tennis player Martín de la Puente and the Sevillian Arturo Montes were proclaimed this Friday doubles champions in the 33rd MAPFRE Spanish Wheelchair Championship, which is being held at the Real Club Pineda in Seville, thanks to their 2-2 victory. 6, 6-2 and 10-7 in the final against Murcia's Kike Siscar and Cisco García from Córdoba.

Exciting outcome for De la Puente who swept this penultimate day of the tournament. Of course, in doubles he began the final with little rapport with Montes, while Siscar and García dealt with a first set marked by tough competition; Very concentrated, they took advantage of their rivals' lack of coordination and won that first set.

In the second round the roles changed, with De la Puente and Montes being able to see much more accurate offensively, while Siscar and García kept up the pace only saving balls. A strategy that the Vigo player and the Sevillian maintained well and that ended up giving them the set 6-2. Then, with a super tie-break of 10-7 they closed the victory.

During the morning session the two semifinals of the individual table had been held. And De la Puente and Siscar themselves, numbers 1 and 2 in the national ranking, did not disappoint in their respective matches and confirmed such leadership. Siscar won the first duel against Montes, third in the national ranking and who lost 6-1 and 6-1.

The second match of the day pitted De la Puente against the Polish Dominik Bukala, who was beaten 6-0 and 6-1. The match from the beginning was in favor of the Galician, who demonstrated his experience and hitting confidence. In the final this coming Saturday, starting at 11:00 a.m., De la Puente will fight to retain his champion title.
