Marta Canella replaces María Conde for the last Eurobasket qualifying ‘window’

MADRID, 1 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The women’s national basketball coach, Miguel Méndez, has summoned Marta Canella, a Barça CBS player, to replace the injured María Conde for the last qualifying ‘window’ for the Eurobasket to be held next week, as confirmed this Wednesday the FEB.

Conde was injured this Tuesday in the Euroleague match with his team, USK Prague, and it is the second casualty suffered for this reason by the Galician coach, who on Tuesday had to replace Alba Torrens (Valencia Basket) with María Eraunzetamurguil (Movistar Estudiantes), due to a problem with the Balearic Islander’s knee.

Now, Méndez has decided to trust Canella, a new rookie who was initially called up for the concentration of the Spanish team in the 3×3 modality and whose place will be taken by Laura Méndez, from Movistar Estudiantes.

The national team, already qualified for the Eurobasket, will meet on Monday, February 6 in Guadalajara and from there they will travel to Romania, where they will play on Thursday, February 9 (5:00 p.m.). Subsequently, they will travel to Iceland for their last game of this qualifying phase on Sunday the 12th at 8:45 p.m.
