Mariano García: “I leave everything to myself, I’m one of the greats too”

MADRID, 21 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish athlete Mariano García was euphoric after his gold medal in the 800-meter final of the European Championships, where he showed this Sunday that he is “one of the greats”, as he already achieved with his indoor world title in Belgrade.

“World champion and now European champion. Very happy. I hope that next season will be even better and improve what I have done,” he said in statements to the media of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation, collected by Europa Press.

The Murcian was as always decided by all and dominated the final from the first step down the straight, holding off the Englishman Jake Wightman. “It has been spectacular. I have confidence in myself because I know that I train quite well. I leave everything to compete and I have shown that I can be with the greats there and be a great myself”, he affirmed.

“Personal brand for the house and what better time than doing it in a great championship and a great final. I always fight for the maximum and I like to celebrate it with those closest to me. I hope this doesn’t stop. Fuente Álamo is a party,” he concluded.
