María del Monte's first words after Antonio Tejado's entry into prison: “I trust in the presumption of innocence”

Antonio Tejado (36) entered provisional prison this Monday for being the alleged mastermind of a series of robberies perpetrated by a criminal organization in Seville. Among the victims is the young man's aunt, Maria del Montewho suffered with his wife last August, Immaculate Casal, an assault with violence in his home in the town of Gines. This Tuesday, the singer shared her first words after the imprisonment of her nephew, who faces a sentence that can reach six years in prison.

The singer has explained to the press that “one of the guarantees that this country has is the presumption of innocence”, a right that both she and her family enjoy. “It's not because I say it, but because the laws of my country say it,” she pointed out, without wanting to give more statements.

The artist, like her family, is “destroyed.” This is confirmed by her environment, her main support after the blow she received from her nephew, who the same day she suffered the robbery at her house went to visit her, listened to her and encouraged her. The Police tapped his phone when starting the investigation, part of the Abgena operation, which has taken around six months and in which there are a dozen people involved, among them, a boxer, a jewel thief and several 'machacas' (people that the organization hired and that they performed commissioned tasks).

Tejado was in charge of leaking information about the victims to the criminal organization, providing details such as what their routines are and where the safe was. When he was arrested on February 10, the agents found jewelry, wads of bills and even a Manila shawl at his home.

Previously, the agents had alerted the folkloric woman of the possible involvement of her nephew in the robbery, since the thieves had information that only a person “intimate” to her could have provided, as reported this Monday on Telecinco. The family of Chayo Mohedano's ex had already warned him of the risk of hanging out with “bad company.” The former reality show contestant left television to treat his addictions, finding an escape route in sports. It was in the gym of the 'Russian' – the boxer who led the gang – where they planned the robberies. The footballer Sergio Ramos is among those affected, and in the future a failed robbery of one million euros was being planned.

After Tejado's arrest, the artist already said that she trusted “justice” and that she did not feel she had the right to point out anyone guilty. “I am not one to suspect anyone. Suspicions are not good and I have not suspected anyone until a judge says what he has to say,” he told the media.

Tejado now faces several crimes, such as robbery with violence or membership in a criminal gang, whose sentences could be increased to six years in prison. This Monday, in the Investigative Court number 16 of Seville, he took advantage of his right not to testify. He and five other people from the gang went to prison without bail. Two were released.
