Marco Rose: “It’s a bit bitter, because I think we deserved more”

MADRID, 15 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Leipzig’s coach, Marco Rose, admitted that the defeat leaves him with a “bitter” taste, because he believes that his team deserved “more” for the game played this Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabéu, thus, he hopes that they put more “meat in the grill next time”, although he pointed out that “this is the way”.

“It has been an intense game, in which we have done and demanded a lot, we have played well, we have had many opportunities and possession, but in recent moments we have had moments of weakness where we have not had the opportunity and Real Madrid has enjoyed opportunities. It’s a bit bitter, because I think we deserved more for how we played. Although we played very well in the game, in the end a couple of mistakes caused the two goals”, the coach said at the press conference after the defeat (2-0) in the Champions League against Real Madrid.

The coach was “disappointed” by Marco Asensio’s goal received “at the last moment”. “However, what I have seen today gives me confidence,” he said optimistically. “We have to put more meat on the grill next time, but this is the way we want to go. We have to learn from these situations and not hesitate, but the boys have done things well,” he warned.

Finally, Rose highlighted the “active defense” of his team, despite the fact that Real Madrid had “very dominant moments”. “We have done many things well, we have not been satisfied. I have not had the feeling that we have completely lost control,” he said before praising his team’s performance to “control” Vinicius. “He has not generated complicated situations, but when he has found him he has used the space that we have left him,” he settled.
