Brazilian Marcelo, captain of Real Madrid, does not set a date for his farewell to the club and showed ambition to “continue to achieve goals”, after receiving recognition from president Florentino Pérez for reaching a hundred games in the Champions League.
With his four Champions League titles, Marcelo is already a legendary left-back but has the ambition to continue growing his record. At the Kiev Olympics, the place where he won the last ‘orejona’ for Real Madrid, the thirteenth, he reached a hundred games in the competition against Shakhtar on the day of his reappearance.
“It gives me great joy. It is another goal achieved. I want to continue to meet more goals and hopefully play more games to raise this figure,” he told the club media.
Florentino Pérez gave him a commemorative shirt with the number 100 and his name together with the ‘Champions’, a competition in which he chooses a special and unforgettable moment of his career.
“I would stay with the first game, which is where the race to the hundred began. There are many important games, final wins, but without the first there would not have been all the others,” he acknowledged.
