Together with the Argentine Horacio Zeballos, he won in two sets against the Germans Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz
MADRID, 14 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish tennis player Marcel Granollers qualified this Thursday together with the Argentine Horacio Zeballos for the final of the men’s doubles draw at the Wimbledon tournament, the third ‘Grand Slam’ of the season, thanks to their 6-4, 6-3 victory about the Germans Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz.
Breaking the rival serve in the opening game, and immediately consolidating that advantage, the duo formed by the Spanish and the Argentine already took the lead on the scoreboard. Without slacking later in their service turns, Granollers and Zeballos tied the first set in 36 minutes.
Although the Germans improved in the next set, they gave up their serve in the seventh and ninth games, trailing from there and unable to prevent their opponents from winning. In less than an hour and a quarter, Granollers and Zeballos advanced to a final where they will face the Dutch Wesley Koolhof and the British Neal Skupski.
In the men’s wheelchair doubles draw, the Spanish Martín de la Puente also lost his semifinal in the company of the Argentine Gustavo Fernández. After an hour and 56 minutes of the match, they fell 7-5, 6-3 against the British Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid, first seeds on London grass.
