Brazilian defender Marcos do Nascimento Teixeira ‘Marcao’ will play for Sevilla FC until 2027, after the Nervionense club and Turkish Galatasaray reached an agreement in principle for his transfer this Friday, the first in this market for the Sevilla team.
The 26-year-old central defender from Londrina trained at Atlético Paranaense, with whom he made his professional debut after a short loan to Avaí, before also leaving on loan to Guaratinguetá, La Ferroviaria and Atlético Goianense.
In the 2017-18 campaign, he made his debut in the Portuguese league with the Portuguese Rio Ave, and after another stint with GD Chaves, he moved to Galatasaray in the 2019 winter market. With the Turkish team, he signed a double in the league and cup that same season, and that same summer, the Super Cup.
In the 2019-20 financial year, interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, he made his debut in the ‘Champions’, playing all six games of the group stage against Real Madrid, PSG and Bruges, and the following year he gained prominence, playing 37 games in the Turkish Super League.
Last season he was one of the Istanbul team’s most used players, completing 26 league games and one cup game. In the continental competition he played in the ‘Champions’ qualifying round against PSV and the Europa League tie against Scottish side St.Johnstone; In addition, he played the entire group stage and the round of 32 tie against FC Barcelona.
