Marc Cabestany, new women’s coach

Marc Cabestany (39 years old) will lead the RCD Espanyol women’s first team for the 2022-2023 season, as announced by the blue and white club this Friday. The objective, to achieve the return to the First Division that this season escaped on the last day.

Cabestany has experience in women’s football and assumes this challenge with the utmost responsibility and willing to promote the new perico women’s football project.

The brand new blue and white coach has been director of methodology from the Manu Lanzarote women’s soccer school (2014-19) and in the 2017-2018 season he was in charge of the Preferred Youth, which he ranked third.

His career also includes stages as a coach in the men’s soccer: He has managed Igualada, Atlètic Sant Just and has been at Olot and Badalona as second coach. With Olot he managed to get up to Segunda B. And he has also been an assistant to Steve Coppel (former Manchester United and English national team player) at ATK Atlético Kolkata.

“Espanyol is one historic club. for me it is a chance. I have accepted this proposal because I want to provide professionalism, a close relationship with the players and convey a message of trust in everyone’s work from the first day. We need a healthy locker room, united and in the field I want a brave, reliable and very competitive team and that the parakeets feel identified with it”, said Cabestany in his first statements to the club’s official channels.
