BARCELONA, 9 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Barcelona player Marc Bernal will be out for almost a year after undergoing surgery on his left knee on Monday, after being injured in the third matchday of LaLiga EA Sports in the duel against Rayo Vallecano and already missing the last matchday.

“Marc Bernal has been successfully operated on this morning for his injury to the anterior cruciate ligament and external meniscus of his left knee by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau under the supervision of the club’s medical services, at the Hospital de Barcelona. The expected recovery time is 12 months,” the club announced in a statement.

The 17-year-old midfielder started against Rayo Vallecano in matchday 3 of LaLiga, but in a play in the final stretch of the match, already in added time, he was injured and left the field of play.

The first tests confirmed the worst prognosis: the player from Berga suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and an associated injury to the external meniscus.

Until his injury, the pivot was gaining the trust of the new Blaugrana coach, the German Hansi Flick, and his technical team. In fact, he was a starter in the first three games, leaving a good impression with his trademark associative football, and adding the strength and size of his 1.91 metres of height.
