The coach of Atlético de Madrid Femenino, Manolo Cano, regretted this Tuesday having conceded Levante UD's second goal in extra time “when we were better off”, referring to the 1-3 scoreline achieved by the 'granotas' in the first semi-final of the Super Cup of Spain, which is being held in Leganés (Madrid).
“Football is about materializing when you have phases of dominance, and also when you are able to impose rhythm on your rival and generate chances. But when you forgive, you end up paying for it and I think that is a summary of what we have been able to see in the match,” Cano said after the match, from the press room of the Butarque Municipal Stadium.
“Likewise, in extra time we had the feeling that we could win before the penalties, but we found ourselves with that second goal against when we were better off. And then that second goal already forces you to go desperately for the tie” , argued about it.
The Colchonero coach admitted that his team had lacked “calmness in the last pass, in the last shot and in the last shot” to win a match that finally fell to the Valencian side due to two goals scored in extra time by Gabi Nunes.
On the other hand, Cano valued the implementation of VAR in this tournament. “It is a tool that helps the referees and helps them make better decisions.
