MADRID, 2 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Manchester United confirmed on Thursday the farewell of Spanish midfielder Juan Mata, whom he thanks for having dedicated a large part of his sports career to the ‘Red Devils’, where his prominence had declined in recent years.
“Thank you for dedicating eight years of your career to United, Juan. The whole club wishes you the best for the future,” the three-time European champion said on his website about the 34-year-old, who landed at Old Trafford in January 2014 from Chelsea.
Mata has played a total of 285 games with the English team, scoring 51 goals and winning a Europa League, an FA Cup, a League Cup and a Super Cup. The midfielder played his last game in a United shirt on May 22 against Crystal Palace.
