Manchester City gets up against Brighton and retains the lead

MADRID, 20 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Manchester City put an end to a three game winless streak at the expense of Brighton & Hove Albion (3-0) thanks to goals from Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva that keep the Premier League at the top of the Premier League team trained by Pep Guardiola after a game postponed from matchday 30.

The ‘citizens’ provisionally lost the lead on Tuesday after Liverpool’s victory, but a day later they did not fail at the Etihad to regain first place. The victory was incontestable for Real Madrid’s rival in the Champions League semifinals. Of course, we had to wait for the second half to see the goals.

The first was signed by Mahrez at 53 minutes with a slight touch with his left foot inside the area and the second of the night, after game time, was by Foden after a lucky shot that deflected the Brighton defense after a corner taken in short. The icing on the cake was put by Benarndo Silva with a left footed shot from outside the area.

In this way, City will continue to lead with a point of rent over Liverpool and 15 over a Chelsea who lost in their duel with Arsenal 2-4. The ‘gunners’ won the London derby at Stamford Bridge with a brace from Eddie Nketiah and another two goals from Smith-Rowe, assisted by former Madrid player Odegaard, and Saka from a penalty.

The ‘blues’ -who scored through Werner and Azpilicueta- put their third place at stake after falling to one of their pursuers. Arsenal, fifth, have the same points as Tottenham, fourth, both five points behind Thomas Tuchel’s team, who are having a long season.

For their part, Everton rescued a point against Leicester City (1-1) thanks to a goal from Richarlison in the 93rd minute that kept them with a cushion of four points over relegation, while Newcastle beat Crystal Palace by the minimum (1-0) with a goal from Paraguayan Miguel Almirón.
