MADRID, 28 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Mallorca and Espanyol drew (1-1) this Friday at the start of matchday 12 of LaLiga Santander, held at the Visit Mallorca Estadi, a point that tasted less at home after a good second half and an important dose of controversy.
Javier Aguirre’s team continues to show authority so as not to suffer excessively and hit hard to go for the games. However, with the option at home to move away from the relegation zone, the Balearic take-off was avoided by the ‘parakeet’ team with a lucky goal from Lazo.
The first half did not give for much history, intention without specifying in arrivals neither one nor the other. Going through the locker room felt much better for the Balearic team, which through Baba, Ruiz de Galarreta and Muriqi was tilting the field with occasions.
The goal came after three minutes, from Muriqi, in a perfect combination that ignited the fans in Palma. Kang In-Lee got to work too and Dani Rodríguez and Jaume Costa forgave the second. When Espanyol was at its worst, a center from the left by Lazo went straight to the top corner (1-1).
Diego Martínez’s men improved with the goal, but without much arrival, and in the final stretch they suffered again thinking about securing the point. The local push looked dangerous into the Catalan area and, in the 87th minute, Ángel asked for a penalty from Brian, but neither the referee nor the VAR took the hint.
The protest, of what seemed to be contact between the defender and the striker, was intense, and left Maffeo and Aguirre expelled. A distribution of nerve points and a lot at stake, despite being matchday 12, with Espanyol with 11 points, Mallorca with 13, and burning with 9 in the absence of the matchday ending.
