MADRID, 27 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
RCD Mallorca and Sevilla FC drew 0-0 at Son Moix on Tuesday, in a match corresponding to matchday 3 of LaLiga EA Sports, in which both home and away sides missed clear chances, meaning both teams will remain in the middle of the table.
The Seville team attacked a lot in the first half of the match, with opportunities to score that were thwarted by goalkeeper Leo Román. A good example was the ball rebounded to ground level after half an hour, after a right-footed shot by José Ángel Carmona from the edge of the area that had passed between the legs of several opposing defenders.
In the second half, as Sevilla’s Saúl Ñíguez increased his dominance in the centre of the field, more dangerous actions arose. A combination between him and Chidera Ejuke gave rise to a pass into the heart of the Bermelillon area in the 50th minute, and Djibril Sow sent the ball wide with his shot, which was low and with his right foot.
Mallorca’s response came from the outside of Vedat Muriqi’s left boot in the 64th minute, when he pounced on a rebounded ball and shot across the area from just inside the six-yard box; Sevilla goalkeeper Orjan Nyland closed the gap and ‘in extremis’ repelled his shot with one leg as he came out.
Although Isaac Romero had a chance in the final stretch with a low left-footed shot from the edge of the area, Sevilla lost control and almost paid dearly for it when Saúl was sent off in the 89th minute with a straight red card, having allegedly insulted referee Muñiz Ruiz. Thus, Mallorca enjoyed a clear opportunity in stoppage time to beat Nyland.
Following a low cross from Samú Costa from the left flank, youngster Marc Domènech appeared unmarked inside the area and narrowly missed the ball. After this 0-0, the Balearic and Andalusian teams remain in the middle of the table, although with only two points in their respective tallies and without yet knowing victory.
