Málaga commemorates the 80th anniversary of La Rosaleda

Last Saturday Javier Puig, president of the Railroad, was at La Rosaleda to remember that the Madrid team was its first visitor in an official match played against Malacitano. That anniversary marks 80 years this Tuesday and the club wants it to be commemorated with feeling despite the current pandemic circumstances. (In the photo attached to this information we see the moment when the president of the Ferro, in the company of the head of Renfe, Javier Reyes donated a shirt of the Madrid team to the members of the Málaga Club de Fútbol Foundation Lucas Rodríguez and Basti in the stadium lawn).

The Malacitano, who wore a white t-shirt and black pants.or, it was renamed Club Deportivo Málaga. On September 14, 1941, an official inauguration was made. It was in a match against Sevilla and he also switched to his well-known blue and white uniform with blue pants. It was that meeting in which the daughter of the then mayor Pedro Luis Alonso, Lourdes, carried out the honor roll.

Until then, the official playing field was Los Baños del Carmen. In 1936 the first stone was laid in the construction of La Rosaleda, sadly slowed down by the Civil War. The works were resumed after the end of the war. That April 13, 1941 had to be played in a Rose Garden still unfinished because a storm devastated the old Malacitan field.

Since then, this stadium has experienced brilliant moments and others not so much. To host the World Cup that Spain hosted in 1982, it faced an important reform. Ten years later the Club Deportivo Málaga disappeared to avoid a possible demolition, the three institutions, the City Council, the Provincial Council and the Junta de Andalucía assumed its ownership, which is in force to date.

Spain has played nine times at La Rosaleda. The first was on 2-21-1973 against Greece. That day Migueli, one of the 12 internationals as Málaga players, played. The last one to date was against Costa Rica on 11-11-17. This venue in recent times has hosted the Spanish Super Cup, the final of the Queen's Cup, the promotion phase to the Second Division and the Norway-Turkey match valid for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Fuentes, the first scorer

The Malacitano won that historic match 6-0 against the Railway. It was the Generalissimo Cup. Manuel Fuentes was the author of the first goal in this stadium.or, and four more in that glorious afternoon that rounded off another historical, Tomasín. Rival goalkeeper Miguel Bermejo, who would later play for Málaga, conceded the first goals. 80 years have passed since then and that Malacitano has evolved into the current Málaga Club de Fútbol.
