Nineteen years later, Maccabi Petah Tikva will play in an Israel Cup final after defeating Hapoel Tel Aviv 2-0 in the semifinals.. Goals by Guy Hadida in the fifth minute and Lior Inbrum at the start of the second half provided Maccabi Petah Tikva with the possibility of obtaining his third cup-winning trophy after those achieved in 1935 and 1952. He played two more finals, without success, in 1939 and 2001.
Maccabi Petah Tikva will seek the title against the winner of the clash between Hapoel Beer Sheva and Bnei Yehuda from Tel Aviv, current champion, who will meet this Wednesday in the other semifinal of the competition.
