Luka Romero: “I want to stay at Mallorca”

The Argentine Under 15 international Luka Romero, born in Durango (Mexico), is closer to signing his first professional contract with Mallorca after admitting that his desire is to continue wearing the shirt of the Balearic club, recently promoted to the First Division.

“I want to stay at Mallorca,” the youngest footballer to debut in the First Division at the age of 15 and 229 days told IB3 Television in the match against Real Madrid two seasons ago at the Alfredo Di Estéfano stadium.

Luka, 16 years old and considered the great hope of the Mallorcan youth squad, expressed his desire to continue on the island in one of the Mallorca ATP breaks that is being held on the grass courts of the Country Club of Santa Ponsa with the presence of great tennis players, including the world's number one, Serbian Novak Djokovic.

“We are there negotiating, I hope to continue, of course we do,” said the young footballer, who announced that his representative will travel to the island next week to discuss his renewal with the Mallorca board.

Luka is one of the few players in the team led by coach Luis García Plaza who has not yet signed with the vermilion team, despite intense negotiations in recent months.

Although he was part of the squad for several days in the Second Round – he scored his first goal with Mallorca against Logroñés – his presence in the team was irrelevant from the second round.

“He is not tied, with him you have to go slowly; we have a lot of people upstairs and we are in a moment of the season in which the experience is a degree. Now at 16 he is not a starter, but he will be at 18, because here he will surely grow up to be an important player “, answered García Plaza when asked why he did not summon Luka Romero.
