Nacional de Montevideo has made the arrival of Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez official, after the pre-agreement between both parties, so the Uruguayan returns after 16 years to the team in which he became known before making the leap to Europe.
“The enthusiasm of all, the love for colors and the joy of seeing you again with the most beautiful shirt in the world. Happy to have you at home,” the Uruguayan team reported this Thursday on social networks about the signing of their new striker.
Suárez arrives as a free player, after Atlético de Madrid chose not to renew his contract, which ended on June 30. In addition, the player seeks to reach the Qatar 2022 World Cup in November with a competitive rhythm.
The striker acknowledged on Tuesday that there was “a pre-agreement” with the Montevideo team and expressed hope that “in the next few hours the details will be finalized” to reach the agreement that “everyone” wants. “I hope to enjoy this new stage and see you in the next few days,” he said.
Once confirmed, the player will once again wear the Nacional shirt, with whom he played at the age of 18 between 2005 and 2006, winning the league title twice and in which he scored 12 goals. The following season he tried his luck in European football with Dutch club Groningen, where he scored 15 goals in 37 games.
His great first season in Europe allowed him to make the leap to Ajax, a team in which he became known before joining Liverpool in 2010.
