Luis Enrique: “Mbappé is a unique and exceptional player, I wish him the best and hope he loses against us”

MADRID, 15 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique Martínez said on Thursday that he wishes “the best” for striker Kylian Mbappé, who has left the French club to play for Real Madrid, and that he is a “unique and exceptional player.”

The Asturian coach was asked in a press conference about his former player’s debut with the Madrid team in the European Super Cup and also showed his irony. “But how annoying the Spanish are, my goodness. Are you still here? Until when? The truth is that I didn’t expect to be asked more about Kylian, but I don’t have anything to hide either,” he initially replied.

“I’ve always loved Kylian, I think he’s a unique and exceptional person and player. I really enjoyed last year with him and also with his brother Ethan, to whom I send my regards, and I wish him the best wherever he goes. And in the competitions that Real Madrid is in, I hope they lose against us,” he said.

Luis Enrique said he was in no hurry due to the lack of reinforcements. “The market is what it is, the transfer window is complicated because we already have a very high-quality team. We had signings last year and I am very happy with the vast majority of players we signed,” he said.

“We will continue to develop our project and we are willing to further improve our transfer window, but it is difficult to strengthen our team given our level. The leader of the team is the club, PSG. This is a medium and long-term project,” added the Gijón coach.
