MADRID 5 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Liverpool and Manchester United tied (2-2) this Sunday on matchday 20 of the Premier League held at Anfield after a fast-paced second half, a point that helps the locals maintain a solid lead and helps the visitors emotionally.
After removing the snow from the Liverpool grass and amid the cold and rain, the English classic did not disappoint. Above all, United did not do it, because they competed against the league dominator despite a crisis that Rúben Amorim has not been able to stop.
The arrival of the Portuguese coach was almost due to defeats, but at the leader’s home, the ‘red devils’ showed pride, as in the comeback against City, and a little more football. In the second half was when everything came alive, and United began to hit with Lisandro Martínez’s 1-0 lead, but Liverpool did not hesitate in their reaction.
Arne Slot’s men went on the attack and, in ten minutes, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah, with a penalty in their 18th goal in this Premier, turned the score around. Despite being almost dead, United stayed in the game and Amad Diallo, as in the Manchester derby, appeared to make it 2-2 in the 80th minute.
The final stretch was heart-stopping and the English classic could have fallen from any side. Liverpool forgave a couple of counterattacks and a corner kick, with a header from Virgil van Dijk that miraculously landed in the hands of Andre Onana. The last one, however, was ‘red devil’, with Harry Maguire as a center forward and finishing like a misplaced centre-back in long stoppage time.
Thus, the ‘red’ team continues to show that it is almost invincible and maintains a six-point lead over Arsenal, second, with one game less. Meanwhile, United, with five days without a win, is still in no man’s land, closer to the relegation zone than to Europe even, but they left Anfield proving to themselves that they can do better.
In the other match held this Sunday in the English league, Raúl Jiménez scored a double penalty to frustrate an Ipswich in the relegation zone and give a point in the 91st minute to a Fulham (2-2) that does not want to drop out of the noble part of the classification.
