Lisandro Martínez, operated on for a metatarsal fracture

MADRID, 18 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martínez underwent surgery on Tuesday for a metatarsal fracture, an injury that will leave him off the pitch for the remainder of the season, for which reason he is already “focused” on recovery, according to his own footballer on his social networks.

“Everything has gone very well, thank God! Thank you very much for all your messages. Now focused on recovery,” the Argentine wrote in a message on his Instagram profile, along with a photo in the hospital after the operation.

The ‘Red Devils’ central defender was removed on a stretcher during the Europa League match against Sevilla this Thursday, confirming his bone injury the next day, which ruled out that his Achilles tendon was affected.

The loss of the Argentine player, who would be fully recovered by the start of next season, adds to that of United’s French center-back, Raphael Varane, who was also injured against Sevilla and is expected to be absent for several weeks.
