Lille won at the Olympic Park against Lyon (0-1) to continue its climb to the European positions of Ligue 1 from which its rival, anchored in the middle of the classification dominated by Paris Saint Germain, is moving away.
The clash brought together two teams distanced from their expectations. Candidates for lower aspirations move in the middle of the table far from the objective.
It was Lille who emerged victorious from the match that closed the twenty-sixth matchday with a goal in the 35th minute. A cross from the Portuguese Xeca and a mistake by the defender Thiago Mendes left the ball in favor of the Swedish Gabriel Gudmundsson who beat Anthony Lopes .
Lyon won the game and put Jocelyn Gourvennec’s team in check. He managed to score, three minutes from the end through the Brazilian Lucas Paqueta but the goal, reviewed by the VAR, was annulled.
The victory boosts Lille, which has ten of the last twelve points at stake, eighth, four points behind Strasbourg, fifth, which marks the European zone. Lyon is tenth.
