Spanish beach volleyball player Liliana Fernández will be a mother again in June 2022 and will then face the challenge of finding a new partner in the sand and qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, in which it would be her fourth Olympic participation.
“I am very happy and excited to be a mother again. The priority now is that everything goes well as it was in 2017 with Saúl. We are delighted to expand the family and we will see if it will be a little sister or brother for Saúl,” said the player olympic.
Lili also assures that her will to continue her professional sports career is “intact”. “From a sporting point of view, my idea is to fight for what would be the fourth participation in the Olympic Games. I want to work hard to be in Paris 2024,” he said.
The one from Benidorm had a good pregnancy and delivery previously, and hopes that the same story will be repeated. So, she gave birth after Rio 2016 and arrived in shape at Tokoy 2020, this summer. Now, he hopes to arrive in tune to the gala appointment.
“June next year would be the date on which she would give birth and it would not be until September that the qualifying cycle for Paris begins,” she said optimistically about her desire to qualify for a fourth Olympic event.
However, she must find a new partner since, after Tokyo 2020, Elsa Baquerizo announced her retirement and, thus, the legendary Spanish beach volleyball couple, the first Spanish women to go to the Olympic Games, had ended a 13-year cycle in the elite.
Lili makes a “parenthesis” to become a mother again but will continue training from next November guided by her doctor to “maintain the best possible physical conditions” to resume everything once she gives birth.
“I want to convey my sincere thanks to all my sponsors who have always expressed their support for me. Thanks to the Spanish Olympic Committee, the Royal Spanish Volleyball Federation, UCAM, the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation and the FER Project, Iberdrola and John Smith and Evileye Eyewear, “he stressed.
