Lewandowski: “We have great potential, I think we can opt for everything”

MADRID, 26 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski assured this Tuesday that the Barça squad has “great potential” to “opt for everything” next season, since “if you play for Barça, you have to think about winning titles”, at the same time who confessed that he has not spoken with his new teammates about the 2-8 that Bayern endorsed, with him in their ranks, to the Catalan club in 2020.

“We have to go step by step, but this season will be much better than last. If you look at our potential, I think we can opt for everything. We have great potential,” said the Pole at the press conference prior to this morning’s friendly (2:30 am) against Juventus in Dallas.

Presented just six days ago in Miami, Lewandowski made his debut 72 hours later at the Las Vegas Classic. In his first appearance, as culé insisted “if you play for Barça”, it is “normal to think about winning all the titles”.

“The young players on the team are very hungry and want to show their best performance,” he commented on the players with the most future in the squad, later highlighting the good atmosphere in the locker room. “I feel very good with my teammates. Everyone has helped me and it means a lot to me. I’m here to show the best of me,” he added.

The Pole pointed out that his experience is key to adapting faster to his new team. “From the first day I was in contact with my teammates, I talked to them, I opened up to them, I learned the language,” he said.

“WE HAVE NOT TALKED ABOUT 2-8”

“I will easily understand what Xavi wants from me and from the team. I will try to score the maximum goals, but the most important thing is to win with the team. I never think before a season how many goals I will score, because the most important thing is what you give to the team. and with the team. We have to wait to see how many I’ll score”, he said about his goalscoring contribution this season, after converting 50 goals in 46 games last year.

The Pole was asked about his four goals against Real Madrid when he was wearing the Borussia Dortmund shirt in the 2013 Champions League semi-finals. “Everyone remembers that game, it’s our rival now. We have to think about what we have to do, not about what we did”, he asserted, maintaining the same idea regarding the 2-8 that Bayern endorsed Barça two years ago. “We haven’t talked about 2-8, that’s in the past and now I’m in a new chapter,” he added.

“The tests that I have done say that I have a body younger than my age. I don’t know how many years I will play at the highest level, but it will surely be a few,” settled Lewandowski, who hopes it will help the team have a mentality winner. “I always have the head to win and score goals,” he said.
