Levante stops at El Molinón and Leganés gets into ‘Playoff’ positions

MADRID, 7 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Levante, second classified in LaLiga SmartBank, has sealed a new draw against Real Sporting de Gijón in El Molinón-Enrique Castro ‘Quini’ (1-1), in a twenty-second day in which Leganés has risen to positions promotion by beating Lugo (1-0) and in which Ponferradina has overcome Villarreal B (2-1).

Asturianos and granotas, euphoric after eliminating Rayo Vallecano (2-0) and Getafe (3-2), respectively, in the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey, respectively, met in a duel of alternatives in which Javi’s men Calleja struck first.

Before half an hour, an elbow from Djuka to De Frutos inside the area allowed Montiel to stand up to eleven meters and put the visiting team ahead (min.27). However, Otero, as soon as the match resumed after the break, equalized the contest (min.47).

Although they dominated, the granota team failed to materialize their chances, the clearest being a shot off the crossbar by Pablo Martínez and a header from Pepelu that missed the post. Levante, with three draws in the last four days, has 37 points, the same as Eibar, third; the people from Gijón accumulate 28 after three league games without winning.

In addition, Leganés rose to sixth place, the last to access the ‘Playoff’, after beating Lugo (1-0). A solitary goal from Seydouba Cissé was enough for the pepinero team to ensure victory, which leaves them with 33 points, while the Galicians (21) continue in the penultimate position, three from salvation, which Ponferradina marks.

Precisely, the Berciano team moved away from the burning zone by coming back from Villarreal B, who took the lead with a goal from Sergio Lozano in extra time in the first half. Hugo Vallejo, in the 57th minute, and Amo, in the 81st -just after the people from Castellón were left with one less due to the expulsion of Pacheco-, rescued the three points for the locals in El Toralín.
