Lenovo Tenerife and BAXI Manresa suffered defeats this Wednesday in their early games of matchday 32 of the Endesa League and in search of third place, against Surne Bilbao Basket (87-79) and Coosur Real Betis (96-102 ).
The two matches of next week’s day were brought forward because both Canarians and Manresans will play the ‘Final Four’ of the FIBA Champions which is being held in Bilbao. The Canarian team will do so with a bad memory, certainly not decisive, after losing to Surne Bilbao Basket on that stage.
The Basque team added the 14th victory to continue with options to play the ‘playoffs’, which the team from La Laguna wanted mathematically with a victory. It will be a matter of time beforehand for Txus Vidorreta’s team, in the fight for home court factor (19), but they were unable to stop Ángel Delgado (27 points, 11 rebounds and a PIR of 44). A 26-16 in the last quarter was the comeback.
Furthermore, Coosur Real Betis stays out of the relegation places with their tenth win, after surprising at the Nou Congost with a brilliant Shannon Evans (28 points, 10 assists and 36 PIR credits). Brown and Báez were also key in the Betis triumph, withstanding the local rush in the last quarter.
Like Lenovo Tenerife, BAXI Manresa stays at 19 wins after their second loss in a row, although Pedro Martínez’s men do have the ‘playoffs’ assured, and they can lose the trail of the ‘Top 4’ that gives that home court factor in crosses for the title.
