Leipzig will play their Cup match at home due to a toxic spill in their rival’s field

LEIPZIG (GERMANY), 24 Aug. (dpa/EP) –

The German Cup match between Leipzig and Teutonia Ottensen, a team from the Hamburg regional league, will finally be played at the Red Bull Arena, the current champion’s stadium, due to an unexpected problem at the initial venue of the clash with a spill toxic.

The Bundesliga team stressed in a statement that “the reason is the impossibility of playing on the Dessau field”, which was the one chosen by their modest rival for this match since they were not allowed to use theirs due to the artificial turf.

Furthermore, Hamburg’s two Second Division clubs, St. Pauli and Hamburg, did not want to make their stadiums available to him for a match against Leipzig due to their lack of affinity with the Saxon club.

That caused the crash to finally move to the Paul Grifzu stadium in the town of Dessau, about 70 kilometers from Leipzig, but, according to the newspaper ‘Bild’, unknown individuals poured a toxic substance and damaged both the areas and the central circle of the field.
