Leipzig sign young Norwegian Antonio Nusa as Dani Olmo’s replacement

LEIPZIG (GERMANY), 13 Aug. (dpa/EP) –

German side RB Leipzig announced on Tuesday the signing of young Norwegian Antonio Nusa, who arrives from Belgian side Club Brugge and fills the gap left by Spaniard Dani Olmo, who left for FC Barcelona last week.

Just a week after Olmo’s departure, the Saxon club presented the 19-year-old as their new player, with a contract until 30 June 2019. According to the media, the sum paid to terminate his contract was just over 20 million euros and Bayer Leverkusen and Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in him.

“Antonio fits perfectly into Leipzig’s DNA. He is young, capable of development, very ambitious and willing to learn, but on the other hand he has already played around 100 professional games and left his mark on both Club Brugge and the Norwegian national team. As such, he is without doubt one of the best players of his generation in Europe,” said Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer.

Nusa is considered a great attacker, who can play on both sides of the attacking front and also in the centre in the ’10’ position like Dani Olmo. He has been capped seven times by his country’s national team and in 2021 he switched from the club where he was trained, the Norwegian Stabaek, to Club Brugge, with whom he played 86 games, was twice champion and once winner of the Super Cup, scoring a total of seven goals.
