LEIPZIG (GERMANY), 19 Nov. (dpa/EP) –
Leipzig confirmed this Saturday that its striker Christopher Nkunku suffers a torn external ligament in his left knee, which occurred on Tuesday in a training session for the French team prior to the start of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
“The time he will be out is open, there are several treatment options for this injury. We will give Christo the best support so he can return as soon as possible,” the club wrote on Twitter.
The 25-year-old striker and current top scorer in the Bundesliga with 12 goals, was injured after fighting for the ball with Real Madrid player Eduardo Camavinga, one of his teammates in France. Nkunku is expected to be tested again once he returns to Leipzig.
