Leicester achieve their second victory and Fulham go over Villa

MADRID, 21 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Leicester got their second win of the season this Thursday at the King Power Stadium after beating Leeds United 2-0, while Fulham achieved a resounding victory (3-0) against Aston Villa at Craven Cottage, in corresponding matches to matchday 12 of the Premier League.

Brendan Rodgers’ men got even for their poor run of results in the league but without getting out of relegation, while Leeds, who remain glued to the red zone, accumulates seven games without a victory.

Robin Koch’s own goal put the early lead for the hosts, who saw the Leeds defender clear Dennis Praet’s cross into his own net.

Shortly after, Harvey Barnes doubled the lead for the Foxes after finishing off a cross from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Three points that take the pressure off the figure of Rodgers, but condemn his counterpart from Leeds, Jesse Marsch, who has not known victory since August 21.

For their part, Fulham managed to forcefully defeat a downtrodden Aston Villa who, after Douglas Luiz’s dismissal and Mings’ own goal, saw their chances of winning at Craven Cottage diminished.

After half an hour of the initial game, Harrison Reed opened the scoring after picking up a clearance on a corner kick from Villa goalkeeper, Emiliano Martínez, who served him the first on a plate for the locals.

It seemed that the Villa team did not wake up from the nightmare when Douglas Luiz received a direct red card, after the VAR warned the referee of an attack on Mitrovic in a dispute without the ball. The hosts were quick to extend their lead and, after the ball hit a Villa player’s arm, Mitrovic doubled the lead for his side from the penalty spot.

Bad luck ended up arriving for the villains when Mings deflected a low cross from Neeskens Kebano into his own goal that made it 3-0. The result leaves Gerrard’s team on the verge of relegation, while Fulham rise to mid-table.
