Sporting seeks to follow in the wake of the leader against a downtrodden Amorebieta and Zaragoza and Espanyol defend their status in Santander and Huesca

CD Leganés visits the Ciutat de Valencia this Friday in a duel against Levante that opens matchday 15 of LaLiga Hypermotion 2023-2024 and in which the ‘pepineros’ want to strengthen their solid leadership against some ‘granotas’ who do not want to lose the pace at the top, while Real Zaragoza and RCD Espanyol defend their status as promotion teams in Santander and Huesca, respectively.
The ‘granota’ fiefdom hosts this Friday (9:00 p.m.) a vital match for the aspirations of Leganés, current leader of the Second Division, thanks to a spectacular six games without losing (5W consecutively and 1D). Led by De la Fuente, Portillo, Raba and Sergio González, the people of Madrid are on an upward path that they are now examining against another of the candidates to fight for promotion.
Seven points separate the ‘granotas’, sixth with 24 units, from the brilliant ‘pepineros’, so attacking Butarque, something that only Andorra has achieved this season, would mean taking the lead. Javi Calleja’s men, already in the second round of the Cup, have gone three games without winning in the League and have only added one win in the last four games away from the Ciutat. However, the head-to-head is favorable to the Valencians, winners in 3 of the last 5 games between the two.
Also in the upper zone, this Saturday Real Valladolid, fourth in the table with 24 points, will visit Racing (16.15), tenth with 21, in Sardinero. The Pucelanos smiled against Tenerife with a solid 2-0 victory, after the painful defeat (5-1) in Ipurúa. Opposite will be a Cantabrian team that has not beaten the Blanquivioletas since 2009, but who faces, in a slump after two consecutive defeats and now without the Cup, the opportunity to get into the rhythm of promotion.
Elche and Real Zaragoza will also face each other on Saturday (6:30 p.m.) at the Martínez Valero, a mid-table duel to which they arrive with opposite tendencies. The team from Elche has accumulated six games without losing and at home they have only lost in their debut in the competition against Racing de Ferrol. While the hands need to recover the good feelings of their brilliant start, now in decline after their streak of five games without a win.
Sporting, second classified with 27 points, will host Amorebieta on Saturday (9:00 p.m.) sunk in the penultimate position, while Espanyol will visit Alcoraz on Sunday (6:30 p.m.) with the aim of breaking their current bad dynamic – 3 games without winning -. They will have to be attentive to what happens in the Eibar-Albacete (9:00 p.m.), a duel in which the ‘gunsmiths’ will defend the third place with which they start the day.
