Lazio wants Mayoral

Lazio wants Borja Mayoral. The good season of the Real Madrid player in his year on loan at Levante (nine goals in 36 games) has sparked the interest of many clubs in Spain and also in Europe. The Italians have joined the bid and they have done it with force, because they are willing to make an important bet for the U21 international and because their sports project is the most attractive: they will play the Champions League next season.

In this way, the Italians have placed themselves in the lead in the bid for the striker. Lazio plummeted after the resumption of Serie A and had to give up the dream of taking over the Scudetto, but its season remains outstanding. The Romans will play again in a group stage of the Champions League for the first time after 13 seasons and, therefore, President Claudio Lotito wants to greatly reinforce Simone Inzaghi's workforce, that has been proven too short to play every three days. Sports director Igli Tare praised Mayoral in 'Sky Sport': “He is a player who has an important career, but the only thing I can say is that we are looking for a striker. Maybe two.”

Lazio's intention is to offer Mayoral a long contract due to his youth (23 years), something that fits into the forward's plans. After three transfers (one year at Wolfsburg and two at Levante), with a season in between at Madrid, Parla's wants to settle in a club. That is why he is very attracted to the project that comes to him from Italy, where they offer him stability.

Madrid, for its part, knows that it must sell to Mayoral this summer because the contract ends in 2021. The formula it wanted to use is to transfer 50% of its rights, but this is not allowed in Italy. Therefore, he would have to keep it, as has happened with Achraf and Inter, but keeping the targets a right of first refusal. From the Bernabéu they appraise that of Parla in about 15 or 20 million, although they are aware that entering the last year of their contract they may have to negotiate that amount.

Lazio is not the only suitor. AS has already advanced the strong interest of Valencia, although that circumstance has changed. The contacts between the Che and Madrid for Borja began when they were fighting to get into Europe. Once confirmed that they will not play European competition they lose options. In turn, they are won by Villarreal, who is also interested in Real Madrid if Gerard Moreno or Bacca leave and who will play the Europa League next year. Finally, Levante wants to keep it after the good performance offered there by the striker, although they are aware that it will be very complicated due to the interest of clubs that play European competitions. Today Lazio or Villarreal are the most likely destinations for Mayoral.
