MADRID, 14 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish athlete Laura Redondo won silver this Sunday at the European Throwing Cup held in the Portuguese town of Leiria, with 69.72 in her first attempt with the hammer.

After Javier Cienfuegos’ second place in the hammer on Saturday, Laura Redondo also got on the podium, the second Spaniard to do so in 21 editions of this competition after Mercedes Chilla in the javelin in 2006.

The Spanish record holder began with those 69.72 meters that placed her in the lead until almost the end. Redondo did not improve in the rest of the competition but until the last launch of the contest she was first, when the French Alexandra Tavenier reached 70.13.
