The 2021/22 season of LaLiga Genuine Santander had its opening ceremony this Friday in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where the start of its fourth season will be held this weekend, with the welcome of the 24 participating teams.
The LaLiga project, launched through its Foundation in 2017 and consisting of a football league made up of teams of people with intellectual disabilities, was looking forward to a new start to the season in the capital of Gran Canaria.
The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, and the president of UD Las Palmas, Miguel Ángel Ramírez Alonso, acted as hosts at the Ciudad Deportiva Barranco Seco, where the first games of this season will be played. More than 500 players and players who will face each other in a total of 36 matches distributed in three time slots.
The ceremony was also attended by the General Director of Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuel López; the Minister of Social Policy and Accessibility of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Isabel Mena, and the Mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Augusto Hidalgo.
“Today we begin what will be a season full of hope, happiness and shared dreams. I hope that once again, the Genuine project will make us truly enjoy football, in which camaraderie and team play are its protagonists” said Tebas, accompanied by the captains of the 24 teams.
