Laporte: “We see the matches as finals, we cannot fail”

Aymeric Laporte was not worried about the two goals conceded in the final leg of the match against Croatia that forced extra time.

“In all the games you can improve things, we have not done so badly to conceal those goals. Soccer is sometimes like that. You have to do self-criticism, yes, to improve ”, he indicated. “If you score five goals and concede three you also pass. The important thing is to win and that is what we have done ”, he added.

Spain will face Switzerland in the quarterfinals and not against France, with whom Laporte was called up without making his debut. “I don't know if not playing against France takes pressure off me. It may or may not, I have not tried it. We are very excited about this game and that is what matters ”.

Regarding the favoritism of Spain, Laporte limited himself to commenting that “we have a very good team and we have shown it in the last games. It is very difficult to beat each other and we have been doing well for several games. We really want more ”.

The center-back indicated that they view the game as a “final” and did not consider that Spain's lesser rivals are choking. “I am telling you about this specific Euro and I think we deserved more. You can't win 3-0 every game. All rivals are difficult to play and it is also valid for that ”.

Finally, regarding his adaptation to the national team, he assured that “I am very happy and very happy to be here with this troop, with the coach, the president … I am very happy to be here.”
