That Joan Laporta has sentenced Ronald Koeman is incontestable. Although from the club they rush to announce that no hasty decisions will be made, “not even hot” in the next few hours, who more or who less at the club it is clear that this was the last game that the Dutch coach sat on the bench, especially taking into account that on Saturday against Atlético at Wanda he will not be due to suspension.
The Blaugrana president went down to the dressing room of the Da Luz stadium to console some players dejected, heartbroken and totally disconcerted by the endemic European humiliation. Once again, Laporta had to bring out his most optimistic streak to spur them out of this situation, ensuring that the club has a plan to “fix” it. That in his speech he did not mention Koeman on any occasion indicates very clearly that the Dutch coach is not part of the project. In fact, Koeman was not even present when Laporta appeared in the locker room, since he was serving the media with rights.
It is not the first time that Laporta meets with the players are Koeman in front, as he also did it on Tuesday, before the team left for Lisbon.
We will have to wait what is the way Laporta decides to address the fans after this new debacle. In the previous two disasters -Bayern and Granada- he opted for an institutional home video where he claimed to have the resources to reverse the situation, encouraging the fans to continue supporting the team and asking the board for a margin of confidence, completely ignoring the coach.
