Ronald Koeman's future is more up in the air than ever. And even more after meeting that the president Joan Laporta plans to meet in the next few hours with Koeman to make an assessment on the state of the team and ask for explanations about the latest results, according to ‘Catalunya Ràdio’. The same station made it clear, in any case, that no imminent traumatic decision is foreseen, so Koeman will finish the season yes or yes.
Another very different thing is from the next campaign. It seems clear that Koeman could have his days numbered at the club, especially after such a disappointing end to the season, where the team has thrown away, inexcusably, any option for the title, with games as disappointing as the defeat at home against Granada (1-2) or the draw in Levante (3-3) this Tuesday after being traced back a 0-2 in favor.
Laporta already made it very clear during the electoral campaign that Koeman's future at the club would depend “on the game and the results”. While it is true that in the meetings he has held with the Dutch coach he has always shown the utmost confidence, it is also true that he has not publicly ratified the coach, who has a more signed season.
These reluctance by Laporta to send a public message are what are fueling the possibility that the Dutch coach will not continue next season. The truth is that right now nobody in the club can guarantee one hundred percent that Koeman will be the coach next season.
Of course, the Dutch coach has always made it clear that has one more year of contract and that he will fight with all his might to keep it.
