Joan Laporta won one of the main battles of the Assembly of delegates: The Board of Directors chaired by the Catalan lawyer obtained the provisional suspension of article 67 of the club’s statutes, that forces the Board to resign if it presents two negative financial years in a row.
Laporta needed 234 votes from the compromisarios partners and obtained 265, so exceeded the two-thirds necessary according to the club’s statutes to achieve the suspension of article 67, that remains without effects until the restitution of the positive net worth. However, the Barça president, Joan Laporta, promised to bring the article every year to the Assembly so that it can be replaced at the moment in which the economic normality of the club recovers. Although there were dissenting voices to the suspension of article 67, because according to some partners there is a risk of further increasing this negative net worth, the delegates ended up transmitting confidence to the president with the 265 votes.
