LaLiga will observe a minute of silence for those affected by the earthquake in Morocco

MADRID, 9 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and LaLiga have agreed to observe a minute of silence before this weekend’s LaLiga Hypermotion matches and next week’s LaLiga EA Sports matches in tribute to those who died and were affected by the Moroccan earthquake.

“In the face of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Morocco last night and which, at the time of writing these lines, has already left more than 630 dead, the RFEF and LaLiga want to convey to the Moroccan people and their institutions the solidarity of all of Spanish football. Our special relationship, for geographical, historical and sporting reasons, makes us feel this tragedy very closely,” they say in a joint statement.

Thus, “as a gesture of remembrance in memory of the people who have lost their lives” in this catastrophe, all Second Division matches, called LaLiga Hypermotion, played this week “will be preceded by a minute of silence.”

“Due to the break due to international commitments, this minute of silence will be observed, in the case of the matches that will be played in the National First Division League Championship next weekend (September 16-17),” they added. “The Royal Spanish Football Federation and LaLiga jointly invite the clubs and fans of our country to join this respectful minute of silence,” they concluded.
