LaLiga will encourage LaLiga EA Sports clubs to improve their audiovisual product in their broadcasts

MADRID, 4 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

LaLiga announced this Friday that it will encourage LaLiga EA Sports clubs to work on implementing innovations that improve the audiovisual product in their television broadcasts, one of the great objectives of the employers’ association.

As indicated by LaLiga in a press release, the clubs, meeting this Friday at the First Division Board, approved, with 18 votes in favor, two abstentions and one vote against, “the inclusion, within the distribution criteria of social implantation, of an additional variable that makes it possible to determine in a more equitable and fair way the participation in the generation of resources for the commercialization of television broadcasts”.

This measure will be applied “initially” to clubs in the highest category and is based “on compliance with new innovative voluntary actions that have an impact on the improvement of the audiovisual product, to respond to the demands of audiovisual rights operators to improve the product and compare it to other top-level sports competitions”.

The organization chaired by Javier Tebas pointed out that these measures have the “ultimate goal of increasing the value of audiovisual rights as much as possible” to thus comply “with the legal responsibility” that was granted to it.

In this way, a new form of distribution of the two thirds of the 25 percent of the distribution corresponding to the so-called social implantation other than the collection by season tickets and ticket offices has been approved.

Half of those 2/3 will be distributed based on audiences, as has been done up to now, reducing their impact to half of those 2/3, while the other half will be distributed based on the degree of collaboration in the new voluntary actions that arise in response to the requests of the ‘broadcasters’, to encourage the improvement of the audiovisual product and the generation of more resources.

In this sense, LaLiga pointed out that “this degree of collaboration will be weighted based on the audience ratings of each club, multiplying it by the average audience obtained”, and that this new system only affects the distribution criteria of 25 percent. of social implantation since the remaining 75 of the income will continue to be distributed in accordance with the Royal Decree Law of 2015 and its General Regulations.

“Therefore, it is about promoting changes that respond to the needs of a constantly evolving market in which it is essential to strengthen the connection links with a fan who demands new content that multiplies their match experience, something in what other major European competitions are already working on,” added the employers’ association.

With this system of incentives, which allow a better measurement of social implantation, LaLiga seeks to promote “a greater willingness” from the clubs to facilitate, for example, interviews with coaches and coaching staff, recordings in the dressing room of pre-match harangues or a increased player participation in different broadcast formats.

These new opportunities are added to the novelties that LaLiga has presented for this 2023-2024 season in which fans will experience a comprehensive change in broadcasting with a total modification of the graphic package, which will offer new perspectives and angles that, enriched with information, will offer an experience much more immersive viewing.

Thus, there will be new uses for cameras on benches, aerial cameras, film cameras in tunnels and new optics with nods to the video game ‘EA SPORTS FC’, among many other novelties that seek, as well as the modification of the distribution system, to offer the best possible experience to the fans.
