LaLiga will appear in the ‘Operation Conifer’

LaLiga has announced this Saturday that it will send a writ of appearance in the open case for ‘Operation Conifer’, carried out by the Police, in which a criminal organization dedicated to match-fixing in non-professional football competitions has been dismantled and of the Gibraltar National League.

As a result of a complaint filed by LaLiga before the National Police Center for Integrity in Sports and Betting (CENPIDA), regarding the match between CD Gerena and Conil CF played in May, during the 2020/2021 season, the Unit Central for Specialized and Violent Crime of the Police (UDEV), in collaboration with the General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ), Europol and Interpol, opened an investigation in which 21 arrests were made in the provinces of Badajoz, Almería, Cádiz and Seville.

LaLiga also prepared several reports on allegedly manipulated matches in the Gibraltar National League and they were sent to the Police, within the framework of the collaboration carried out by the Department of Integrity and Security that began in 2015. The result of these reports , the Police investigated the involvement of the Gibraltar National League in the events.

LaLiga’s Integrity and Security department has maintained a firm fight against sports corruption and the detection of match-fixing alerts for national and international bets in the field of professional and non-professional football, women’s football and other sports for 7 seasons. Likewise, work is carried out continuously during each season on prevention and training in all the squads of the LaLiga Santander, LaLiga SmartBank and women’s football clubs.

In the 7,809 professional, semi-professional, youth or friendly football matches analyzed by LaLiga in the 2021-22 season, 13 complaints have been made. In the matches analyzed in LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank, no warning of potential fixing in national or international bets has been found.
