LaLiga respects the judicial decision of the ‘Jimmy case’ but will study a possible appeal

MADRID, 30 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

LaLiga respects the judicial decision adopted by Criminal Court No. 23 of Madrid known this Friday, for which 75 of the 82 defendants have been sentenced to small fines for the fight between Dépor and Atleti fans in which ‘Jimmy’ died, but it will study the sentence in case an appeal proceeds.

This was stated by the employers’ association of Spanish professional football, through an official statement, without ruling out that possible appeal that would have to be made within 10 days before the Provincial Court of Madrid. On the other hand, LaLiga celebrates that what happened in 2014, a fight in which the Coruña follower lost his life, has been persecuted “until the last consequences of him.”

“The sentence reaffirms the actions of LaLiga against this type of violent crime in Spanish professional football, and despite the fact that the penalties imposed are limited in this case to economic fines for the participants in the fight, it is important that this violent act has been persecuted to the last consequences”, says the note.

“It should be remembered that LaLiga, which also exercises the popular accusation in the separate procedure for the murder of Jimmy, in which it has recently requested the revocation of the conclusion of the summary and the reopening of the procedure with the imputation of four of the suspects, one for the crime of injury and three for the crime of homicide,” he adds.

“LaLiga pursues the objective of eradicating any act of violence, racism or xenophobia in Spanish football and for this, it continues to carry out its work as a private prosecution against all those acts that can be denounced for these reasons,” it ends.
