Said report, released this Thursday, analyzes the economic and commercial impact generated by the main soccer leagues in Europe. Thus, LaLiga experienced significant growth of 11% last season, to exceed 3,300 million euros in revenue, just over half that of the Premier League, which reached 6,400 million.

The return of the public to the stadiums allowed the competition to generate 409 million euros in box office revenue, 353 million more than the previous season. In addition, the 2022/2023 season has marked the start of LaLiga’s new five-year national rights contracts with DAZN and Telefónica, which, together with certain rights sold non-exclusively, are estimated to be worth around €1 billion. euro per season

“These agreements now require LaLiga to cover production and marketing costs, reflecting the competition’s intention to have greater control over the production quality and storytelling of its broadcasts,” the report said.

According to the document, at the European level, the set of European competitions increased its income by 7% to reach 29,500 million euros thanks to the end of the restrictions due to the covid and the return to the stadiums, in addition to the growth in sponsorship contracts. .

Regarding the ranking, the Premier League continues to be the first competition in terms of revenue, with an increase of 12% compared to the previous season. Meanwhile, LaLiga registers 3,300 million and a growth of 11%, surpassing the Bundesliga, which reaches 3,100 million and a 5% rise.

Series A, fourth in the table, is the only one that registers a decrease, in this case of -7%, due to the depreciation of national and international broadcasting contracts. For its part, Ligue 1 closes the ranking with strong growth of 26%, mainly driven by commercial revenues (301 million, 39% more), being Olympique de Marseille (97 million) and PSG (45 million). responsible for 47% of this increase.
