LaLiga Genuine Santander said goodbye to its first international expedition this Sunday in the United States, within the framework of the Daytona Soccer Fest, the triangular ‘Original Challenge’ was held between Orlando City, Gimnàstic de Tarragona and the Barça Foundation, the latter proclaiming itself champion of this first edition.
Professional and inclusive soccer and music of international success is the claim of the Daytona Soccer Fest. This event, framed in the United States Independence Day weekend (July 4), has been hosted at the legendary Daytona Speedway as the ‘Original Challenge’, created to revolutionize the world of football.
Among the presentation of important initiatives and projects, the Spanish LaLiga Genuine Santander project led by Olga de la Fuente, director of the LaLiga FOUNDATION, and two examples from the competition, Gimnàstic de Tarragona and Fundació Barça, stood out. by triangulating between the three teams, all made up of players with intellectual disabilities, participating in the same competition on US soil.
On the occasion of the first presence outside of Spain of LaLiga Genuine Santander, LaLiga has wanted to join and support these two expeditions in this unprecedented experience, with the idea that in the future it can be replicated in other countries with other teams. The Barça Foundation was able to hoist the Original Challenge champions trophy, having won both of its games played.
“Seeing the success of this first edition, it has been very satisfying to be able to collaborate and make it possible for these two LaLiga Genuine Santander teams to have this experience that they will never forget. We hope to be able to offer this opportunity in the future to other teams and export the Genuine essence beyond our borders”, affirmed Olga de la Fuente.
