MADRID, 28 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
LaLiga FC Futures, the tournament for the youth teams of Spanish teams, is being played for the first time in Saudi Arabia, specifically at the Mahd Sports Academy in Riyadh, this weekend, from March 1 to 3, according to a statement.
The I International Sub-14 LaLiga FC Futures Tournament, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Sports of Saudi Arabia, will be a tournament with “numerous new features” compared to the rest of the tournaments organized previously. Specifically, the players who are part of the teams will, for the first time, be of the U-14 category and, in addition, will play in the 11-a-side football modality.
The choice of Saudi Arabia as a destination “is due to the rapid growth of the country”, in addition to the “strong historical connection” between LaLiga and the Asian country, since “for more than 15 years LaLiga matches have been followed by millions of fans to football throughout the territory”.
The tournament will feature 12 clubs: 8 LaLiga EA Sports teams, as well as AS Roma (Italy), Benfica (Portugal), Olympique de Marseille (France) and Mahd Academy (Saudi Arabia). They will be divided into three groups: Mahd Academy, FC Barcelona, AS Roma and Cádiz CF (Group A); Atlético de Madrid, Olympique de Marseille, Sevilla FC and Villarreal CF (Group B); and Real Betis, Valencia CF, Benfica and CA Osasuna (Group C).
The matches will begin to be played on March 1 at 7:30 a.m. (Spanish peninsular time) and on March 2 at 8:00 a.m., with the quarterfinals being played on the same Saturday at 3:00 p.m. On Sunday at 08:00 the semi-finals will begin and the tournament will end with the final at 15:00. The tournament can be followed on LaLiga+, as well as on GOL PLAY, DAZN and LaLiga TV Bar.
